Issue:
Can PerleTalk be used over a DSL modem?
Cause:
No.
PerleTalk can use an asynchronous dial up modem (or direct serial) to connect to a Perle m3i, m3pc or controller.
A DSL modem is not an asynchronous modem, and cannot be used for dial up. The DSL modem is a media converter that permits TCP/IP ethernet access through the Telco's DSL link to the Internet.
Solution:
To use PerleTalk, connect an asynchronous modem attached to your workstation.
