P Series router: PPPoE configuration example

Issue:
How to configure P-Series router for PPPoE (ppp over ethernet) for DSL connection.

Solution:

The PPPoE feature only needs to use the existing LAN port on any model of the P-Series router (except P1705).  Note that the WAN interfaces/modules are not used with PPPoE.

Connect the DSL modem's LAN port to the ethernet HUB. Note: DSL modems have a crossover (mdi-x) LAN port. Make sure to use a crossover LAN cable to connect to the HUB's mdi port,  or use a straight through LAN cable and connect it to the HUB's mdi-x port.
Connect the P-Series router's mdi LAN port to the HUB's mdi port using a straight through LAN cable.
Connect all PC Clients to the HUB's mdi ports using a straight through LAN cable.
Note: For all PC Clients, configure the gateway IP address. The gateway address will be the P-Series router LAN IP address or you can the DHCP Server feature in the P-Series router in order to assign dynamic IP addresses to your PC Clients.

The following PPPOE configuration example is using a single LAN interface on the P-Series router. Configure only the following options. Assume the rest to be factory default settings.
