How can the Visilink software and drivers get removed from any Windows 2000 or XP computer.
The following steps will remove any detection of the Affinity card in the W2K or XP system and allow the system to detect the Affinity card as if for the very first time.
The Windows PC may have show hidden files disabled. To change the option,
enable "Show hidden files"
Next delete the OEM.inf file for the Affinity card. Go to the directory:
c:\winnt\inf if you have Windows 2000
c:\windows\inf if you have Windows XP
Use a text editor to open and view each OEMx.inf file until you find the one for the Affinity card. x refers to a number value that distinguishes each OEM file. (ie., OEM2.inf). When you locate the OEMx.inf file that appears with "Affinity", delete it. Also delete the corresponding OEMx.pnp file.
Next "UN-install the Affinity adapter" as follows:
UNinstall Affinity adapter
Lastly, reboot your computer.
The Affinity card wil be detected for the first time. When the card is detected, insert the current version of Vislink V5.12 so that it picks up the current driver to install the Affinity card.
Note: If no resources are assigned to the Affinity card when viewing the Device manager, use PCISET (from disk 1 of Visilink). To run PCISET you must reboot the W2K computer with a MSDOS Boot disk. You can create an MSDOS Boot disk from a Windows95/98/ME computer using the command sys c: a:
