Issue:
When using the Windows Telnet client to configure the serial server products, with CLI commands that require a Y/N answer is bypassed and returns back to the command line.
In some cases, communication to attached serial devices will appear that the device's prompts are being echoed/repeated, displays double prompts, or jumps an additional line.
Cause:
Windows Telnet is configured, by default, to send a CRLF (carriage return + line feed) when the enter key is pressed.
The LF will answer the Y/N prompt so causes the command to be passed.
This may also cause serially attached devices to respawn the prompt as the LF can be views as a CR.
Solution:
The Windows Telnet client for Windows 2000/XP can change this parameter by dropping to the telnet prompt usually by ctrl+"]" :
At the Telnet prompt type: unset crlf
Type "display" to see current settings.
There is no option to change the Telnet Client behaviour for Windows 9X, ME, or NT. It is advised to use a different Telnet client. We can provide more information about our products or arrange for a price quotation.
