Issue:
How to configure IOPRINT+ LPD printing on Windows 2000, XP and NT4 ?
Solution:
Assuming that your IOPRINT+ print server is configured with an IP address and connected to the network, make sure that you can ping the IP address of the IOPRINT+ from the Microsoft Windows Server.
Take note of the following default Logical ports of the IOPRINT+. You will require them in the TCP/IP configuration examples below:
'L1' for parallel port1
'L2' for parallel port 2
'L3' for parallel port3 or serial port
Windows TCP/IP printing configuration examples
WindowsXP
1. Add Printer Wizard.
2. Select Local Printer.
3. Select Create a new port.
4. For the Type of port, select Standard TCP/IP Port.
5. For the Printer name or IP address field, enter the IP Address of the IOPRINT+.
6. For the Device Type, select Custom, then Setting.
7. For the Protocol, select LPR.
8. For the Queue name, enter the Logical port of the IOPRINT+. ie., L1 or L2 or L3.
9. Specify your printer's manufacturer and model type.
10. Specify a printer name to represent your printer.
Windows2000
1. Add Printer.
2. Select Local printer.
3. Select Create a new port.
4. From the drop down menu, select LPR port.
5. For the Name or address or server providing lpd, enter the IP address of the IOLAN+.
6. For the Queue name, enter the Logical port of the IOPRINT+. ie., L1 or L2 or L3.
7. Select the manufacturer and model of your printer.
8. Specify a printer name to represent your printer.
WindowsNT4
3. Cick "Add Ports" button.
4. Click to highlight "LPR Port".
5. Click "New Port" button.
6. For "Name or address of the server providing lpd", enter IP address of IOLAN+.
7. For the Queue name, enter the Logical port of the IOPRINT+. ie., L1 or L2 or L3.
8. Click "ok".
9. Click "close". The new port will appear under "Available ports".
10. Click "Next".
11. Specify your printer's manufacturer and model type.
12. Assign a name to represent your printer.
