Issue:
Why is the 394 controller stuck at CF and all the attached devices have a "C" in the middle of the screen.
Cause:
The nornal / configuration switch was moved.
Solution:
Viewing a 394 controller from its rear in the first slot position installed is the Host communication card (HCP). located on this card can be found two switches.
1) Host select switch => Switch selects the interface in use (cable to modem)
2) N <=> C => this is the configuration switch.
The N/C switch should always be positioned to normal unless you are planning on changing the configuration.
To resolve this problem power off the controller the red switch located in the upper left
Locate the configuration switch and restore to the "N" (normal position) power on the controller.
when the controller boots the Led will display.
H0
11 => this number can cycle through a series of messages, this is based on the number of configured cards slots in the 394 controller.
1x
2x
3x
4x
5x => 1 thru 5 identifies the configured card slots
X= 1 thru 8 indicated the status of the controller.
Once the config switch has been restored and the controller boots up, the display will reads H0 11 , when the line is activated at the host ,the Led will again change its status.
H1 => the 1 indicates the line in now active.
18=> the 8 indicated the controller in now active.
All the attached workstations and printers are now operational.
as stated above if the controller has additional cards the number will increment .
