Issue:
How to configure PPPoE with ISDN backup on a P1730.
Solution: In the following example I am using the existing LAN interface on the P1730 (which includes a console port) and an ISDN WAN module in slot 1 position. There are no modules in the slot 2 position. The ISDN WAN module in slot 1 will be used for backup recovery in case the PPPoE DSL connection goes down. From the Main menu, select the following menus and configure only the following options. Assume the rest to be factory defaults or not applicable. You may or may not need to deviate from the selections. Configuration menu Press the TAB twice. WAN set-up menu Press the TAB twice Link set-up menu Press the TAB key 4 times. Connections set-up menu Press the TAB key. Remote site setup menu Press the TAB key. Primary Link [ LAN ] Protocol set-up menu Press the TAB key. NAT enabled [enabled] Press the TAB key 2 times. Security parameters menu and / or Outgoing CHAP secret [enter the isp provided CHAP password] Press the TAB key. Activation set-up menu Press the = key to return to the main menu. Save configuration Notes: Connect the DSL modem's LAN port to the ethernet HUB. Note: DSL modems have a crossover (mdi-x) LAN port. Make sure to use a crossover LAN cable to connect to the HUB's mdi port, or use a straight through LAN cable and connect it to the HUB's mdi-x port. Connect the P-Series router's mdi LAN port to the HUB's mdi port using a straight Connect all PC Clients to the HUB's mdi ports using a straight through LAN cable. Note: For all PC Clients, configure the gateway IP address. The gateway address will be For the ISDN WAN module in slot 1, connect your ISDN line.
