Issue:
How can I change or add the M3i password.
Solution: The M3i has two different passwords which can be configured. The configuration should be done from port 0 To add a password To enter configuration Power off the M3I Located on the back of the unit in the lower left corner, locate the switch labeled N <=> C , flip the switch to C Power on the M3I in configuration mode. When the m3I boots up Connect to the unit with a terminal emulator (PTALK, HyperTerminal or any other emulation software. When the connection is established Press Space bar to continue Connected to port 0 Select one of the following: 1. Define Ports Type choice, press Enter. Supervisor Password. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .PERLE Once the password has been set you can continue with the rest of the configuration or save the password change and reboot the unit in normal mode, this is done by moving the Nó C switch to N. The other password change is at the user level this password is required when the initial connection is made with the M3I, this password is also referred to as the reconnect password, you will receive a prompt asking for this password, this is a security password, this will allow any user who has lost connection to restore the connection, and return to the point in which they were last at on the host system. To set or change the user password Connect to the M3I and from the main menu, Select Option 2 Select one of the following: 2. Define Workstation -Selection ===> 2 F3=Exit Type choice, press Enter. 1=> Configuration password.
2=> Connect password.
We will first look at the configuration password.
This password is used only to protect the M3i configuration this has no impact on the inner workings of the unit.
To enable the configuration password , connect to the unit , direct connection to a PC or a dial in connection to the M3I,

Enter will take you to the next workstation to be configured, complete the entire addresses and save configuration.
Note:
If the M3I was configured with an associated group the M3I will not allow changing the password with the group configured.
To enable the change
- Remove the associated Group name
- Change the password
Then re enter the group name complete all workstation configurations, return to the main menu save configuration and reboot the M3i.
