Issue:
How to backup a Perle 394 configuration.
Solution: The following document describes how to copy a configuration file from one software diskette to another. This may be used when upgrading to the latest version of the software or if your diskette software has been corrupted. It may also be used to create back up software diskettes as spares. 1] Change the switch on the HCP card (top row of ports) from NORMAL to CONFIG, on some controllers this may simply read "C" and "N". Power on the controller in config mode with the new diskette. 2] once the front panel reads CF go to an attached dumb terminal, there should be a C in the middle of the screen, this may take a minute to appear. 3] on the terminal keyboard hold down the ALT key while you hit the TEST/PLAY key, a grid should appear on your screen showing display addresses and printer addresses. At the bottom of the screen you should see a prompt that says "press f2 for enhanced mode" 4] Press F2, now you will go through two language screens, chosse the language appropriate to your region on both screens. 5] Now you will see the controller main menu, option 9 reads copy configuration, type 9 and 6] It will now prompt to insert source diskette, this is referring to the diskette which the controller was running on which contains the config file. Insert and press 7] It will then prompt you to insert target diskette, this refers to the new diskette which you have just created, insert and press 8] You will then be told that the configuration has been transferred succesfully. 9] Power off the Perle, change the switch on the HCP card from config to normal.
