Issue:
I am not getting a login response from the Linux Host when connected through the Perle Serial/Console Server in reverse telnet mode.
Solution: Assuming that the Perle Serial/Console Server port is configured correctly, check the following probable causes. 1. Is your Linux Server's serial COM port enabled with a login service ? If not, add a login entry for your Linux Server's COM serial port in the file /etc/inittab file. Note: This is not redirecting the console. This is a login process. For example, add a line similar to the following in your inittab file. S0:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 9600 ttyS0 VT100 Update the inittab entry by typing the following command: init q
2. Ensure that you are using the correct serial cable between the Perle Serial/Console Server and the Linux Host serial COM port. Refer to the Cabling section on the Perle WEB site for cable diagrams or contact your Reseller to purchase the proper serial cable or adapter for your product.
