Issue:
How to recover if the Administrative user's password is unknown for the 833 servers.
Solution:
If you have forgotten the administrator's password for the Perle 833RAS or 833AS you must reset the unit to factory defaults (from the front panel) in order to access the unit. Refer to your manual for navigation of the front panel menu.
If you can access a local copy of the configuration file then you can open it with the Manager and reconfigure the Administrative user's password. Once you can access the Perle in default mode you can then download the edited configuration back to the unit.
The 833IS version 7 configuration file can store the passwords unencrypted if the encryption option is not enabled. As the configuration file is plain text you can open it with any editor and view the passwords for the users.
In the top section of the file you will find the listing of the user/password, and the bottom of the file you will find the user's profile attributes. Administrative user's will have the word "Admin" located in their user profile.
example:
username Bob password 0 bob123
_userdb Bob
Admin
If the passwords are encrypted then you must reset the unit to factory default and download an edited configuration.
