Issue:
How to reset the Perle CS9000, JS8500, or JS4000 10/100MB units when the Admin password is unknown.
Cause:
As the Factory Reset button has been removed from the 10/100MB units the unit cannot be reset externally.
Solution:
The only method of reseting the configuration to default values is to perform a firmware download using the Windows Jetload utility.
The Windows Jetload utility will erase the current configuration in the Flash and also download the firmware.
Then you will be able to login with the default Admin password.
Obtain the Jetload utility from the CD-ROM or download it from our Website.
Obtain the firmware file and copy it into the same directory as the Jetload utility
(Firmware files and the Jetload utility can also be downloaded from the Perle Website. See link below).
Connect the Windows COM1 port to the Admin port of the Perle server using the supplied cable.
Power off the Perle server
Open a Windows command prompt.
Change directory to the one that you have saved the files to.
From the Windows Command Prompt execute the Jetload utility: jetload32 -comx filename.
The utility defaults to COM 1 if it is not specified.
example: c:\jetload32 js0260g.bin
Then turn on the Perle server. The download will proceed at this point and indicate the progress of the download.
Reboot the unit when prompted.
