Issue:
When the 833 is configured to allocate address' via DHCP, the Windows NT client fails to connect.
The NT client connection disconnects with a 718 - PPP Timeout error.
Cause:
The Windows NT client retries the IPCP negotiation if it recieves 0.0.0.0 for the Primary/Secondary DNS or Primary/Secondary WINS from DHCP. This value indicates to the NT PPP client to negotiate the address again.
Solution:
Configure your DHCP scope options to include values for both Primary and Secondary servers for DNS and WINS.
Use the same address if necessary.
OR
Configure the Perle 833 not to use a DHCP server to allocate client IP address'.
