This utility assists with a basic configuration of ioland to operate in conjunction with an Iolan+ serial server.
If special ioland parameters are required or you are not using an Iolan+ server then you should not use this utility, and manually edit/create the ioland configuration.

Copy and rename one the included ioland binaries as /etc/ioland.
Most distributions of ioland will have two binaries: example ioland8_sco5 or ioland8ft_sco5. The "ft" binary is used for Fixed Pseudo TTY support.

When you start iconfig the utility will prompt for information concerning how you want ioland to run and information about the Iolan+ server.

When you quit and save, the utility will make the necessary changes to the Iolan+ port configuration automatically, will make the required entries to the /etc/ioland.cf config file and start the daemons.

• The "Name of IOLAN" can be either a host table entry or the IP address of the unit.
• The iconfig utility configures the TCP port numbers starting at 10001.
• In most situations fixed pseudo TTY devices are not required for normal operation. Note: if you copied the wrong binary then iconfig will fail after quit/save.
• The iconfig utility does not offer all the options that are available to the daemon. If you require special options such as STREAMS then you will have to manually edit the /etc/ioland.cf file.
