How to copy configuration from a Perle 394.

Issue:

The following steps describe how to copy a configuration file from one software diskette to another. This may be used when upgrading to the latest version of the software or may be used to create back up software diskettes as spares.

Solution:

1. Power off your Perle 394 controller.

2. Change the switch position on the HCP card (card in top row) from normal to config or "C" position.

3. Insert the new Perle 394 Controller software diskette that you created.

4. Power on your Perle 394.

5. Once the front panel reads CF go to an attached dumb terminal and wait approximately one minute for a "C" to appear  in the middle of the terminal screen.

6. On the terminal keyboard hold down the ALT key while you press the TEST/PLAY key.
A grid should appear on your screen showing display addresses and printer addresses. At the bottom of the screen you should see a prompt that says "press f2 for enhanced mode"

7. Press f2 key then go through two language screens. Choose the appropriate language on both screens. Now you will see the controller main menu. Option 9 is for copying configuration. Select option 9 and press the enter key.

8. It will now prompt to insert source diskette. This is referring to the original 394 controller diskette which already contains a configuration. Insert and press the enter key.

9. It will then prompt you to insert target diskette. This refers to the new controller software diskette which you have just created. Insert and press the enter key. This may take several minutes.

10. Once the configuration has been transferred successfully, power off the Perle

11. Change the switch on the HCP card back to the normal or "N" position.

12. Power on the Perle with your new configured controller software diskette. Once the Perle 394 is varied on at the AS/400 you should regain connection.
