Issue:
Why when issuing a process or sysinfo command an event 1008 or 1011 may be reported, such as in the examples below:
NT EVENT:
#application#E#27/10/1998#11:58:18#Perflib#None#1008 #N/A#TYNE#The Open Procedure for service "Oracle7" in DLL "OPERFDLL.DLL" failed. Performance data for this service will not be available. Status code returned is DWORD 0.##
NT EVENT:
#application#E#27/10/1998#13:06:06#Perflib#None#1011 #N/A#TYNE#The library file "xxxgdctrs.DLL" specified for the "GOPHERSVC" service could not be opened. Performance data for this service will not be available. Status code is data DWORD 0.##
Solution:
If the application is a Microsoft® one check either TechNet or the MSDN® library for details on a fix, otherwise check with the application's manufacturer. If no information is given by the manufacturer, these errors can be suppressed by disabling the application's performance counters.
An application that supports performance counters has a 'Performance' sub-key under the Services key. By renaming this sub-key, the performance counters will be disabled. For example for the application MyApp this key can be found at the following location in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet \Services\MyApp\Performance In the case of event 1011, check that the 'Library' value, under the Performance sub-key lists the correct location for the DLL.
