How to install IOPRINT+ as Remote Printer to NetWare 4.x (NDS Mode)?

Issue:
How to install IOPRINT+ as Remote Printer to NetWare 4.x (NDS Mode)?

Solution:
If you want to setup IOPRINT+ to remote printer mode, you should be in NDS mode.

Step 1:

Before you begin:
- Make sure the Hardware Installation is complete
- Login a file server as supervisory right
- Copy all files from the Print Server Utility (IPX/SPX protocol) diskette (Dos formatted) to F:\PUBLIC> (we will assume the file server is mapped to drive F:)

Step 2: There are two methods to install IOPRINT+ as Print Server to NetWare 4.x (NDS Mode)

Method 1: For express setup, run the QUICKSET program to setup
Method 2: Using PCONSOLE and PSCONFIG to configure IOPRINT+

In Method 1: Using QUICKSET to configure IOPRINT Plus In F:\PUBLIC>, type:

QUICKSET Unit_Name R (/UN=P)(/Q1=X)(/Q2=Y)(/QS=Z)

Unit_Name: It is the default IOPRINT name which is recorded on the bar code label on the bottom of IOPRINT+ R: R is the name of the NetWare print server in current NDS tree and context that the IOPRINT+ will connect to. /UN=P: P is the new IOPRINT name /Q1=X: X is the name of the queue to be serviced by parallel port1 the default name is NDS_Q1 /Q2=Y: Y is the name of the queue to be serviced by parallel port2 the default name is NDS_Q2 /QS=Z Z is the name of the queue to be serviced by the serial port the default name is NDS_QS

Note: The Quickset program restricts all print ports of the IOPRINT+ connected to the same NetWare print server. If you want to let them connect with different NetWare print servers, please see Advanced Setup and Functions on User's Manual.

In method 2: Using PCONSOLE and PSCONFIG to configure IOPRINT Plus In F:\PUBLIC>, step a: Using PCONSOLE to configure IOPRINT+
(1) Run PCONSOLE program
(2) Select Print queues (or skip to step 6 if you do not need to add new queues)
(3) Press [Ins] key to add a new queue
(4) Type a queue name, and press [Enter]
(5) Repeat Step 3 and 4 until you have the desired number of queues
(6) From the PCONSOLE Main Menu, select Print servers
(7) Select a NetWare Print Server
(8) Select Printers
(9) Press [Ins] Key to insert a printer
(10) Enter the following in the Name Field xxxxxx for Parallel port 1 xxxxxx_P2 for Parallel port 2
xxxxxx_SP for serial port, where xxxxxx is the device name or your IOPRINT+
(11) Select the printer
(12) In the Type field, select parallel for Parallel port 1, or Parallel port 2, select serial for serial port
(13) Select Configuration
(14) In Port field, select LPT1 for parallel port 1, LPT2 for parallel port2, and COM 1 for serial port
(15) In Location field, set to Manual Load
(16) Press [Esc] to exit Configuration sub-menu
(17) Select Print queues assigned
(18) Press [Ins]
(19) Select the queue that you want the printer to service
(20) Press [Exc] twice
(21) Repeat from step 9 to 21 until all association among queues and printers are configured completely
(22) Exit PCONSOLE

Note:
(1) Set the password of the IOPRINT+ to NULL
(2) Printer number 0 is for parallel port 1 of an IOPRINT+ Printer number 1 is for parallel port 2 of an
IOPRINT+ Printer number 2 is for the serial port 1 of an IOPRINT+

step b: After using PCONSOLE, Run PSCONFIG program to send setup Information to IOPRINT+

(1) Run PSCONFIG program
(2) Select your IOPRINT Plus
(3) Select Set to NetWare Remote Printer Mode
(4) Enter NetWare Print Server Name selected in PCONSOLE for all print ports
