The Perle controller IP address is being changed.

Issue:
The 494 or 594 controller has been relocated and the ip address has changed. How to change and update a 494 or 594 controller configuration.

Cause:
The controller ip address has to be changed or AS/400 has new network parameters.

Solution:

When a controller has been relocacted and or the AS/400 IP address was changed, the controller configuration has to be changed and restored.

For this example the controller and AS/400 are configured for TCP/IP.
The first example covers the AS/400 IP address has been changed.

1) Locate a copy of the controller configuration, the configuration can also be retrieved from the running software diskette in the controller, the file name is one of the following

For the 494E the file name is ( 494conf.dat )

For the 594E or 594T both products share the same file name (594conf.dat), however the configuration is different.

For this example the 594E configuration will be updated.

To make any changed to the controller configuration, first locate a computer which has a copy of the Perle controller configuration utility installed.

for the 594E and 594T,there are two versions of the Configuration Utility

1) Utility Diskette for Windows.

2) Utility Diskette for Dos.

for the 494E,there is only a DOS utility available.

The configuration example below is using the 594 Windows utility.

To change the confiuration, remove the diskette from the controller, and copy the file 594conf.dat to a diskette or into the directory 594up.

Go to start Programs
594Utility Program
594E standalone
select file (594conf.dat)
then select Launch standalone.
Press enter and select "Configuration"

At this point you should be presented with the hardware configuration screen, this should match the actuall hardware components installed in the controller.

The example is a sample of what the controller configuration may look like.

Press the F6 key to continue.
you will now be presented with the 594e - Configuration - Slot Selection

Use the arrow keys to select an option, then press Enter.
when you enter this configuration screen, the cursor will highlight slot 2

Slot 2 Twinaxial
Slot 3 Fast Ethernet

Press the enter key on slot 2, there will be 4 options displayed. Only options 1 or 2 will require a change.

If the AS/400 ip address or the controller(594) ip address requires a change select first option.
the correct parameters should be highlighted.

TCP/IP
ETHERNET

when in the 594e - Configuration - AS/400 Connection - TCP/IP Ethernet

This page will only display the controller IP and AS/400 Ip addresses, if the AS/400 IP address is the only change required, type over the IP address press the F6 key and save the configuration.

If the IP address of the controller has to be changed then change the following parameter:

Modify Global Parameters. . . . . . . . . . . . No

this option defaults to No, tab with the down arrow to Yes, select with the space bar. and press enter.
the entire window will now be displayed, change the controller and gateway IP address.

After all changes are made F6 to continue. Go to save the configuration and restore the configuration to the controller.

If the information required changing was the AS/400 system name or serial number this is done using the second option

SNA Network Information

Press enter on SNA Network Info and you will be presented
