Multisession Memory Requirements

Issue:
How much memory does a 594e require for multisession.

Cause:
A multisession configuration was created, but the multisession devices do not go active.

Solution:

The two tables below show the memory requirements for multisession devices.

Note:
A 594e base controller is configured with 8 megs of memory.
Memory 72 pin non-parity 70 nano seconds,non EDO

NWS Display Type  Installed  memory 594e
   8  12 16   20  32
 SBCS  10  100  200  300  600
 DBCS  0  0  40  80  200
                        (fig.1) 594e  Base Controller.

 Note:
A 594e IP routing controller is configured with 16 megs of memory.

NWS Display Type Installed memory 594e
   16  20  32
 SBCS  10  100  400
 DBCS  0  0  120
(Fig.2)  594e  IP Routing or Network Controller.

 NOTE:

Certain devices and hardware configurations can yield a greater number of sessions than listed in the tables above, for example, if all attached twinaxial devices are non-ECB and non-DBCS then up to 1000 NWS (Non programmable workstations) multi-sessions can be supported.
The Perle 594e can be configured for up to a maximum of 40 controllers; these controllers can be emulated by actual feature.
