Issue:
How do I resolve an Input/Output (I/O) conflict in my Windows 95 PC for the Affinity card?

Solution:
Summary   MicroPLUS, PNP, or PC Card (PCMCIA) in W95 O/S
          Input/Output Errors when running Diagnostics

Problem Description:  Input/Output Errors when running Diagnostics

1.  To Run Diagnostics.
    From the W95 desktop,
    Click  Start
           Programs
           Affinity 5250 Cards
           5250 Diagnostics.

    At the Enabler screen,
    Note the resources the card is taking
:           Interrupt Level
           Physical and V86 memory,
           Base Port Address=Input/Output).

    Make sure the vxd is loaded and the card is successfully enabled.

    Click  Continue
           Start.

    All tests should pass. 
    If you get an Input/Output error, use the following instructions to
    attempt to resolve the conflict.

    Note:  If you have a MicroPlus 5250 Adapter, verify the dipswitch
           settings on the adapter match the range given by the Enabler.
           If they do not, change the dipswitches on the adapter and
           retry diagnostics.  Please see Affinity Systems from Perle 5250 Diagnostics
           Help.  Search for "I/O Address".  Choose "MicroPLUS I/O Address
           Switch Settings."  Change your dipswitches to match the I/O
           address you want to use.

           If you still get an Input/Output error, Continue with Step #2.

2.  Change the Input/Output Range of the Affinity adapter in W95.

    From the W95 desktop,
    Right-click  My Computer
    Left-click   Properties
    Click        Device Manager
    Double-click Affinity Systems from Perle 5250 Emulation Cards
    Double-click Affinity Systems from Perle 5250 Plug 'N Play Card, Micro-Plus Card,
                 or PC Card
    Click        Resources

    Uncheck the box:  Use Automatic Settings
    Highlight         Input/Output Range
    Click             Change Setting

    This will take you to another screen.  Use the up and down arrow
    to move to an alternate Input/Output Range.  (Ex: 0118, 2508,
    2688, 2710)

    Under Conflict Information, make sure it says
           "No devices are conflicting"
    Click  Okay
           Okay
           Yes

    NOTE:  If you are unable to change the resource, click on the down
           arrow next to  "Setting Based On Basic Configuration..."
           Select an alternate Basic Configuration XXXX

    Try to change the resource again. 

    If you are still unable to change the resource, go through each basic
    configuration until you find one which will allow you to change the
    resource.

3.  From the W95 desktop,
    Click  Start
           Shut Down
           Restart the Computer (for a PNP or PC Card adapter)
           Shut Down the Computer (for a MicroPlus adapter)
    Click  Yes

4.  If you have a MicroPLUS adapter, change the dipswitch settings on
    the adapter accordingly.  Please see Affinity Systems from Perle 5250 Diagnostics
    Help.  Search for "I/O Address".  Choose "MicroPLUS I/O Address Switch
    Settings."  Change your dipswitches to match the I/O address you want
    to use.

5.  Restart your computer.

    Retry Diagnostics.  (See Step #1 above.)

    If you get another I-O error message, try another I-O address.
    (See Steps #2 thru #4 above.)
