Frame-Relay Configuration for P-Series Routers

Issue:
How do I configure a frame-relay connection ?

Solution:

Here is a sample config. for 2 peer routers that are connected via a frame-relay link.
In this example the 2 sites are named "SITE1" and "SITE2".


SITE1 router configuration example

Login
Enter the default password BRIDGE in upper case.


Configuration
LAN Set-up
IP set-up
IP Address 192.168.1.1 [24]
Press the TAB key twice.
WAN set-up menu
Link set-up menu
Link interface type [V35]
Frame relay [enabled]
Frame relay set-up menu
Auto-learning [disabled]

Note: If you choose to enable Auto-learning the unit will auto create a remote site with a name that contains the DLCI as learned from the LMI.Use this remote site id where specified in the following steps.

LMI-type [ansi]

Verify the LMI mode your Frame network is using.
Press the TAB key twice.
Remote site set-up
Edit Remote site

You will be prompted for the Remote site id or alias. For this example, we will enter The name SITE2 to represent the remote site.
For the Template id or alias. Enter the word " none ".

IP Routing
Routing protocol [None]
Auto Default Route [enabled]
Press the TAB key.
Link IP type [numbered]
Local IP Address 217.58.40.73 [29]
Peer IP Address 217.58.40.74
Press the TAB key twice

DLCI [51]
Specify DLCI provided by Frame network provider for remote site.
PPP [ disabled]
State [enabled]
Press the = key to return to the Main menu.
Save configuration
Diagnostics
Soft Reset

The "SITE2" router configuration is the same as SITE1 except for the following differences: 
LAN IP Address
Local IP Address  217.58.40.74 [29]
Peer IP Address   217.58.40.73
DLCI
