Issue:
The Perle controller has an additional twinax feature card installed.( the card has an ID 41).How is the card configured.
Solution:
The Perle 494E or 594E controller operates in one of two modes 1) Compatible Mode. 2) Enhanced Mode. The mode of operation is based on the number of feature cards installed in the controller and the type of configuration that is being created.
If the controller has 1 or 2 feature cards (type 41 or 48 ) installed in slots 2 and 4 and the configuration for example is. SDLC FRAME RELAY ETHERNET TOKEN RING Any of the above controller configuration can communicate in compatible mode with the AS/400 as a single controller. (one APPC and one Remote Workstation controller)
The second mode is Enhanced mode. Any controller with two or more feature cards has to be configured in this mode. If the controller is configured for tcp/ip ,the configuration has to be completed in enhanced mode.
When additional card feature are installed and are being configured, these cards must have unique information. If the configuration is TCP/IP a unique IP address has to be assigned to the as/400 configuration, and the controllers Local location and control point names must also be unique this is configured under the Sna Network Information.
