Event log messages for the 833AS

Explainations of Event Log messages for the 833AS

Solution:

Basic explainations to some of the messages displayed by the Perle 833IS event log:

41000000 (S8I1 Layer 1 Down)
41000000 (S8I1 Layer 1 Up)

- the T1 line signal has dropped
- move the T1 line to another port or card (configure that card with the matching T1 configuration) then see if the problem follows the line. If so check with your Telco on line problems, otherwise there may be a problem with the Port.

41011001 (S3B05 Modem Bank Failure 4)

- modems have failed diagnostics
- Diagnostic errors will report the failing card by the first number in the code.
The card diagnostic error messages are labeled 0 to 7
The slots are labeled 1 to 8.
Looking at the diagnostics error above the 1=label = slot 2  where the modem is installed. If these messages are repeated throughout the Event Log then have the modem card serviced.

41011001 (S3M10 Modem Required Hard Reset)

- the Perle had to manually reset a modem
- usually seen if a call was abruptly disconnected. In some cases this is normal to see if the call was abnormally disconnected and the Perle is resetting the modem.

41000000 (No modem available (DI-7177324032))

- no modem was available to handle the analog call
- this will occur if there is no Modem Card, Modem Card is disabled, or there are more T1 channels than number of available modems.


Resource event log: S1CH01 S1M06  : freed from port  7 (0-00010005)
Resource event log: S1CH01 S1M06  : allocated to port  7 (DI-9102858654)

- a call has been answered by the Perle and has failed to negotiate PPP.
- As there is no "Logon" message this would indicate that the call failed due to the Perle not being able to communicate to the Authentication server.

41011001 (S1M07 Modem Disconnect Reason 41-23)

- call was disconnected. See table below for most common reasons:

 1 - 21  reason could not be determined 
 20 - 15  DTR dropped/lost
 41 - 23  modem training failed
