Local authentication example for PPP

Issue:
How to configure the IOLAN+ for Local authentication when using PPP.

Solution:

From the Administration menu select the "port" option and select the serial port to be configured. Repeat for other ports as required. Assume default setting for options not listed.

Configure the Port:

Speed [115200 ]
Flow ctrl [Hardware]
Monitor DCD [Yes]
Dst [192.154.128.196] (enter address to be assigned to remote PPP client)
Access [Local ]
Authentication [Local ]
Secure [Yes ]

Save and exit the port, then from the Administration menu, select the "kill" option and kill the port number for changes to take effect. Repeat for each port.

Configure the Login password:
In the Administration menu select the Change option and enter a Login password. This login password will be used by the IOLAN+ to authenticate all PPP dial-in clients.

Configure all remote PPP dial-in clients with the same Login password that you entered for the IOLAN+ Login password.  Although the passwords must be the same for all PPP clients, the Usernames can be different. The IOLAN+ will only authenticate against the password.
