Trouble shooting the TFTP server included with the 833IS Manager

Issue:
Trouble shooting information concerning the TFTP server that is included with the 833IS Manager.

Solution:

The Perle 833IS Manager includes a simple TFTP server application to upload/download files.

The TFTP Server is launched automatically when the 833IS Manager is started but can be launched separately through the program icon group or from the Start programs selection.
Note: if another TFTP server is running on the host a socket error will occur as the TFTP port will already be openned. You will have to shut down the other TFTP server daemon before proceeding.

There is no user interface to the TFTP Server. This program runs in the background and is activated whenever a TFTP client (e.g. an 833IS server) starts a File transfer.

The TFTP Server logs status information on all file transfers in a log file called    "tftp.log".  This file is located in the same directory as the TFTP Server.
The TFTP Server creates the file tftp.log if it is not present; it then appends the log information for the TFTP sessions. This file is not deleted by the TFTP Server. The administrator must delete this file as part of general maintainence for the TFTP Server.

The following messages are logged to the tftp.log file:

Open     - e.g.: Wed May 10 13:50:25 2000: Server started
Upload   - e.g.: Wed May 10 13:50:39 2000: Upload File: Filename(test.bin), IPX addr(00474747:0040028C2FB3), Port #(69), bytes(766)
Download - e.g.: Wed May 10 14:31:16 2000: Download File: Filename(test.bin), IP addr(101.101.101.1), Port #(69), bytes(766)
Error    - e.g.: Wed May 10 14:01:57 2000: UPLOAD ERROR: Filename(pcc6600s.img), IP addr (172.16.32.2), Port #(69), bytes(4096)
Close    - e.g.: Wed May 10 14:30:55 2000: Server stopped

Note: if the Perle TFTP server is running and a device on the network requests a file (get) from this PC then most likely the transfer will fail as the Perle TFTP server will be able to find the file and an error message will be displayed.
The tftp.log file will record the event.
