PCI-RAS installation in Windows 2000

Issue:
how do I install the pci-ras in a Windows 2000 env ?

Solution:

PCI-RAS Installation on a Windows 2000 platform.

The nature of PCI stipulates auto detection of the card by

the system that is hosting it. There is very little interaction

required when installing the card. The chassis should be

powered off before installing the card .After physically installing

the card in the chassis power-on the chassis. The system

will detect the card . There will be a message that the digital signature

was not found . Select "yes" to continue. The system will allocate

resources for the card.. The system will prompt for a device driver

for the card. Select "browse" , then point to a floppy disk that has

the current version of the driver. Select "next" to complete the process.

The system will add the newly detected modems. After the cycle completes for

each port ,the modems will be visible under control panel modems .

The modem accessability can be tested using hyper term to connect to the

associated com port.

In the event that you want to remove the card , here is the process.

Start , Settings , Control Panel , System , Hardware , Dev Mgr ,

multi-port serial adapter right clck , uninstall .

Then in the \winnt\inf directory locate and delete the modem inf and the card inf.

The card inf will contain the string "speed" the modem inf will contain the string "chase".

If there is a need to remove a modem then follow these steps.

Start , settings , Control Panel , system , Hardware , Device Mgr , ports ,

chase right click , uninstall.

Start , settings , Control Panel , Modems , right click remove.

Here is the link to the driver .
