Disconnect a session when terminal is turned off

Issue:
How to cause the Jetstream or CS9000 port to reset the telnet/login session when the serial dumb terminal is turned off.

Solution:

If you have configured the Jetstream/Lanstream/CS9000 serial port for Direct/Silent Telnet or Login service you can force the port to reset if DCD (Data Carrier Detect) is dropped by the serially attached dumb terminal:

Set the Dial mode to IN
Modify the cable so that DCD is tied to DTR

With the Dial mode set to IN the Perle will monitor that signal and reset the port when it drops.

Example cable pinout for dumb terminal:

 RJ45                         DB25 Terminal

 DCD   1  --------------------- 20 DTR
 S/GND 4  --------------------- 7  S/GND
 TXD   5  --------------------- 3  RXD
 RXD   6  --------------------- 2  TXD
