How to update firmware for the 833 access servers.

Issue:
How to update firmware for the 833 access servers.

Solution:

Updating firmware is an easy process.
First install the updated version of the 833 Manager application, or copy the updated firmware file into the Perle Manager's download directory. Rename the old firmware file if you wish to save a copy.

Then start the Manager and connect to your unit.
The Manager application will then automatically compare the firmware included in it's package with that of your 833. If the Manager senses that the firmware is older then it will prompt you to perform a firmware download.

In some case's the Manager may not detect a firmware version difference. In that case go to the Configure option on the menu bar and select Download Firmware.

Note: if you are updating the 833AS then ensure that you are using the matching version of Manager. The base unit only supports TCP/IP so you must use the 833AS-IP Manager. You can verify your current firmware version by viewing the Statistics via your current Manager or from the front panel Status -> System menu.

IP firmware will be reported as 0x.xx-IP
FPS (Full Protocol Suite) firmware will be reported as 0x.xxG

If you are updating from the IP firmware to the Full Protocol Suite firmware you must reset the 833AS to factory default and uninstall the IP Manager first.
