Firmware upgrading for P-series Routers

Issue:
Describes the process of upgrading the firmware for the P-series router via TFTP.

Solution:

Follow these steps when upgrading the firmware on the P-series routers.

1-Down-load both the boot code and firm-ware from the Perle web site. See link below.

2-log into the router

3-select CONFIGURATION

4-select ACCESS

5-enable tftp

Before performing any firm-ware updates. It is advisable that the current configuration be saved. To do this issue the command " get config.txt " from a pc running a tftp client application.

6-select LOAD FLASH

7-when prompted select lan

8-when queried for a remote site id choose NONE

9-when the router goes into download mode goto a pc that is running a tftp client then select the send option in binary mode define the file then start the transaction.

10-Repeat the above sequence for both the boot code and firmware.

If after power cycling the router you observe "S B00000000023be50" then the unit is stuck in down-load mode.

If the unit gets stuck in Down-Load Mode :
- press CTRL+X 5 times.
- login to the unit
- select CONFIGURATION
- select LOAD FLASH
- select abort load
- choose yes to return to operational mode
The router will reboot.
