Issue:
The Perle loses IP connnectivity when attached to a switch and a reboot recovers the unit.
Cause:
Some Perle products require manual configuration of the Broadcast Address:
Jetstream
Lanstream
CS9000
Incorrectly configuring the broadcast address configured in the Perle may cause some switches to produce unpredicable behaviour including disabling the ethernet port.
Solution:
Ensure that the broadcast address is correct for the subnet mask type that is configured.
Example broadcast address:
IP Address = 165.154.129.10
Subnet Mask = 255.255.0.0
Broadcast Address = 165.154.255.255
IP Address = 165.154.129.10
Subnet Mask = 255.255.240.0
Broadcast Address = 165.154.143.255
Tech Tip: Use an IP Subnet Calculator for accurate calculations of subnets. Free calculators are available on the internet.
