How to config the 594e for TCP/IP over Ethernet

Issue:
How do I configure the 594e for TCP/IP over ethernet.

Solution:

This document assumes the windows utility has been installed on the computer.
Start Programs
594 Utility Program
594e Standalone
You will be presented with the standalone window, if this is a first time configuration there is no configuration file to select.
Select  Launch Standalone.

Use the arrow keys to select an option, then press Enter.

   Network Link Establishment
  Configuration <=select configuration
   Bridge Filter Configuration
   Concurrent Diagnostics
   Source Route Bridging Status
   IP Routing Status
   VPN IPSec Status
   System Reset
   Software Download Utilities

 _Esc=cancel    F1= Help     F3=Exit

From PC2 menu (fig.2) => press the F9= Enhanced mode

 Use the arrow keys to move the cursor, then press Enter.

  AS/400 Connection
   Network Information
   LAN Gateway
   Keyboard Translation
   Frame Relay Bridging
   Save Configuration

 When you have completed Configuration make sure that you save the
 configuration data before exiting the program.
 Use the "Save Configuration" option to save the data.

Before attempting to create a controller configuration ,locate the 594E  controller looking at the rear of the controller record the  cards ID numbers ,enter the card ID number in the slots as they appear.
Note: The ID number in slot 1 if fixed and is based on the controller model being configured,if the card id number does not match there is a previous configuration which was completed for a 594T controller,to resolve close the configuration and rename the 594conf.dat .Start the utility again, the configuration will open with the correct ID numbers.  

  *Note: This configuration was created based on a 594E controller with one twinax card,if the controller you are attempting to configure has multiple twinax feature cards,add the card ID numbers in the appropriate slot positions to match the controller hardware.

 F6 will take you to the 594- configuration- Slot Selection. The configurator will automatically position the cursor to slot 2. Press Enter to start configuration.(see fig 4)

*Note:
With multiple twinax feature cards configured in the controller, each feature card requires a unique IP address, if there are for example three twinax feature cards (you must obtain three unique addresses)

Fill in the Fields and press F6 to return when completed.
Note:
when completing the As/400 system information,once the as/400 Lu name is entered Press  Enter to automatically fill in the remaining fields.

As seen in the configuration screen there are additional fields below the H1 , H2 thru H4 are optional and are only required if additional AS/400 were available for multi host connections.

Press the (F6) key to continue ,return to the Slot selection by pressing (F6) again.

Note:
The configuration file has been saved on the local drive.
 Change the drive letter and save file to diskette for transfer to the controller.
Go back to the configuration file name and change the path as follows:
 Configuration File Name:
   [A:\594CONF.DAT]

Take this diskette along with the controller setup diskette to the controller ,boot the controller in configuration mode and transfer the configuration file.
